The truth about Cleansing
Sometimes it’s hard to know what to believe when it comes to beauty. There are so many different myths and tales, so, we’re bringing you the facts, and getting rid of old myths.
Myth: Bar soap dries your skin.
Fact: Regular soap may leave your skin feeling dry. Use a body wash or bar without tallow, an animal fat, and you’ll be able to feel the difference as these products clean and moisturize equally well as products with tallow. Dove does not contain tallow and our beauty bars feature a patented cleansing technology and ¼ moisturizing cream that leaves skin soft and smooth.
Myth: You need a variety of many beauty products to really look good.
Fact: Less is more. You really only need a few basic items to keep your skin feeling smooth and soft. Some products, like your Dove® Beauty Bar (which cleanses, nourishes and removes makeup), has various benefits so that you can get more from less.
Myth: Tallow (animal fat) is found in the majority of bar soaps because it is the best cleanser.
Fact: It’s true that most regular bar soaps contain tallow, however, the ingredient itself is not good for skin care. Tallow is commonly used in bar soaps because of it is cheap and easily available. However, tallow actually damages the skin and causes itching, redness and irritation. It even leaves a thin layer of soap scum that sticks with you after you step out of the shower. Dove does not contain tallow – so you can trust that Dove offers you great skin care with the best ingredients. Dove has a patented cleansing technology and ¼ moisturizing cream that leaves skin soft, smooth and soap-scum free.
Myth: Hot water opens up pores and is good for your skin.
Fact: Taking a hot shower may seem like a good idea, but, it is often a cause of dry skin. Rather cleanse with water that is a warm, comfortable temperature to keep skin healthy and smooth. If you like hot water let the shower steam up a bit before stepping in and turn down the temperature once you step in.
Myth: Men have less skin care concerns than women do.
Fact: Even though men typically pay less attention to their overall skincare regimen, they have just as many concerns as women do—sometimes even more. Aging, blemishes and dry skin are common concerns of both men as with women. Furthermore, men have concerns regarding facial hair, such as irritation from shaving and ingrown hairs, making it just as important for them to take good care of their skin.
