How Environments Impact Your Skin
Most of us are aware of the negative effects of the sun on our skin, but few of us realise how the cold affects our skin. Cold air and wind deplete the skin of any natural oils, resulting in red, itchy, blotchy and tight skin. It’s so important to hydrate your skin with the correct products regularly if you spend time outdoors. Hydration for your skin is particularly vital for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts that hike, cycle, run and swim. Vaseline cocoa glow is high in glycerine that infuses moisture into the skin, counteracting these damaging environmental effects. And don’t forget, always use sun protection when outdoors – even in winter!
Air conditioning and indoor heating can also cause dry skin because they dry out the air in the atmosphere, which then removes moisture from the skin. Using a humidifier can counteract this by replacing any moisture lost in the air. Simply placing a bowl of water next to your bed, or on your desk at work, can also actually help to raise the moisture content of the air. Keep the temperature of your heater or air-conditioner on a moderate level as any extremes will affect your skin negatively.
Make sure you hydrate with water, one of the most important ingredients for healthy, flawless skin. Always keep a good all-purpose lotion like Vaseline aloe soothe in your bag, desk at work or around the house. When your skin feels dry, apply it liberally to all dehydrated areas.

The recycled air in the airplane cabin is extremely dry and contains almost no humidity which has a substantial drying effect on the skin. The best way to deal with these drying effects is to avoid drinking alcohol, which will only dehydrate your system out even more. Drink lots of water before, during and after the flight to ensure your system is well hydrated. Apply a little Vaseline petroleum jelly Vitamin E to the lips and nostrils to avoid them drying out.
